  • About
  • The Volente Residence is conceived as a lightweight structure that minimizes disturbance to the site while reusing the existing concrete block foundation of a former residence. Elevated above the terrain, the steel and glass volume appears to hover, supported by a minimal structural system of slender columns and a single concrete pier, allowing the landscape to remain largely untouched below. An elongated entry bridge anchors the house to the hillside, establishing a clear axis that extends through the interior and outward toward the lake.

The plan’s chevron geometry is calibrated to capture expansive views of Lake Travis while organizing the home into distinct public and private zones along this central spine. As the axis moves through the house, it culminates in a cantilevered lookout that projects toward the water, reinforcing the connection between structure, movement, and horizon. Through its restrained material palette and precise structural expression, the house balances lightness and permanence, creating a residence that is both responsive to its site and defined by its clarity of form.
