- About
Qi Austin’s interior draws deeply from Asian architectural traditions, expressed through structure, rhythm, and spatial layering rather than literal reference. Exposed timber framing recalls traditional post-and-beam construction, establishing cadence and hierarchy while shaping a sense of procession through the dining rooms. Screens, latticed elements, and built-in shelving function as contemporary interpretations of partitions, creating permeability, shadow, and visual depth while maintaining continuity across the space.
Material choices reinforce this lineage. Warm woods, stone surfaces, and restrained metal details are composed with an emphasis on tactility and balance, while lantern-like lighting elements and suspended installations introduce softness and vertical dimension. The architecture privileges proportion, craftsmanship, and the calibrated use of light, resulting in an interior that feels both grounded and ceremonial, rooted in Asian spatial principles yet clearly contemporary in its execution.
