- About
Located in the revitalized East 11th Street district, East Village is a vertical mixed-use development that anchors one of Austin’s most culturally significant corridors. The project combines 11 retail and office spaces with 20 residential condominiums, 20 percent of which are designated as affordable housing. This balanced program creates a vibrant, walkable community that reflects the neighborhood’s ongoing transformation.
The architecture expresses both utility and craft. A sculptural solar screen wraps the south and west façades, functioning as a shading device and a guardrail system for the balconies. This iconic feature, along with high-performance glazing, recycled materials, and native landscaping, helped the project earn a 3-Star Green Building Rating.
At street level, floor-to-ceiling storefronts create transparency and lightness, giving the impression that the upper stories rest above a series of floating glass volumes. A long steel truss spans 65 feet above the entry, supporting two levels of residences and framing views toward downtown. On the upper floors, residents share access to green roofs and rooftop decks that extend daily life outdoors.
East Village demonstrates how sustainable strategies and thoughtful design can shape an authentic urban identity. By blending affordability, environmental performance, and architectural expression, it contributes to a healthier, more inclusive future for East Austin.
