- About
Annie Residence was designed for two families sharing a single site in Austin. The home is organized as two pavilions connected by a transparent hallway, creating a sense of separation and unity at once. This dual arrangement allows each family privacy while maintaining visual and spatial continuity through shared views and outdoor spaces.
The design draws from a dialogue of global influences. The use of rooftop terraces and perforated shading screens recalls the patterns and climate responsiveness of Moorish architecture. The integration of water and the fluid relationship between interior and exterior spaces evoke the serenity of Asian courtyards, while the home’s structural clarity and minimalist interiors take cues from traditional Japanese pavilions.
Constructed with a modular steel frame infilled with prefabricated thermasteel panels, the house expresses both precision and honesty in its detailing. The exposed structure defines the facades, revealing the logic of construction while reducing waste and improving efficiency. Annie Residence explores the intersection of cultural influence and modern craft, creating a home where transparency, rhythm, and restraint define a shared yet individual way of living.
