• Lago Vista Residence was commissioned by a highly creative family, including a painter, writer, and set designer, as a vacation home and artists’ retreat. The house is conceived as a simple shed form defined by a large cantilevered roof that shelters an expansive exterior patio, while the cantilevered foundation extends this sense of levitation and lightness into the landscape. On the entry side, a wood-clad volume contains the more functional elements of the program; beyond this utilitarian core, the house opens outward on all sides toward the patio and the creek beyond, creating a retreat shaped by clarity, openness, and quiet connection to its setting.
