- About
The DEN project occupies a compact footprint within the W Hotel in downtown Austin, combining an art gallery and office space into a single, flexible environment. To preserve a sense of openness, a mezzanine was introduced over a portion of the 800-square-foot ground floor, allowing the office functions to move discreetly to the back of house while maintaining a generous double-height gallery at entry.
The client’s blend of innovation and tradition is reflected in the architecture. A refined glass curtain wall establishes a contemporary presence, while wood flooring and accents introduce warmth and material depth. Etched glass panels filter daylight into the mezzanine, creating a soft, ambient glow suited to focused work. Oversized doors accommodate large-scale artwork and unconventional exhibits, reinforcing the gallery’s adaptability within a dense urban setting.
